Feature request: more control over what posts trigger notification e-mails

    Hello,

First of all, I’ve been using WordPress.com for years. My thanks to the team of people who make it so stable and straightforward to use.

Today I posted a password protected post, about some personal stuff going on in my life, something I wanted maybe 4-5 people to read.

I was a bit surprised that it triggered a notification e-mail to all my followers… I immediately got an e-mail from Mum asking for the password.

I guess I assumed a password protected post wouldn’t trigger notifications, but that made me think it would be great if I could choose how posts are notified.

    Many thanks,
    Daniel

  • So, as a solution in the short term, if you want to post something like that again, here’s the workaround:

    • Set your site to “private”.
    • Make your post.
    • Then set your site to public again.

That will keep an email from going out to your followers.
