Featured Images Best Practices

  I have standard theme on wp.com and it supports “featured images.” I see the function to add a “featured image” in the editor, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere of what a featured image is and where/how it will appear. Is it the same as an image I insert into each post? Do I use it only when I have multiple images in the post? some best practices would be useful, please.

  The usage of featured images vary depending on the theme, but you can read more about them in general at http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

  For more specific questions on Standard, I recommend contacting the developer directly for help: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/standard

  For future reference, there will be a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but the theme needs to be active and you need to be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it.
