Featured images not displaying on single posts — Independent Publisher 2 theme

My site (pobojowisko.wordpress.com) recently stopped displaying featured images on single posts without any changes on my end. The images are correctly set in the post editor and are visible in the Reader, but don’t appear on the single post view. The Content Options in the Customizer have featured images toggled on for single posts. Has anyone else experienced this with Independent Publisher 2?

Hi there,
I can confirm this is a bug introduced by a recent update to the Independent Publisher 2 theme. The update changed how the hero image area is rendered on single posts, and it’s causing the site’s Custom Header to appear instead of each post’s individual Featured Image.
Your settings are correct and nothing needs to change on your end. We’ve filed a bug report with our development team. Thank you both @ngineguy and @iczbibliothek for reporting this!

@staff-godofredo Everything seems to be back to normal, but for some reason feature images are now “zoomed in” too much.

For me the problem remains the same.
No Featured Images at all, not even “too zoomed” ones.

Just a quick update here. Our developers are aware of this bug but a fix hasn’t been deployed yet. If you’ve noticed any changes in behavior since the bug was first reported, that’s likely due twinkering and making adjustments to site settings, rather than the issue being resolved. That’s why @iczbibliothek, your site is still showing the same problem.
In the meantime, there is a temporary workaround: go to Customize → Header Image and remove your header image. Since the bug is causing the Custom Header to override your post Featured Images, removing it will allow your individual post Featured Images to display again. You can re-add the header image once the permanent fix is in place.

I’m happy to report that the issue reported related to the Independent Publisher 2 theme has been resolved. I’ve checked your sites and the correct featured image appears for the posts I’ve checked.
