Feedback on the Big Sky agent; usability of the small window that cannot resize.

I have had mixed success with the Big Sky agent in the past weeks since I started using it. My biggest complaint, with which the AI agent agreed, is that the window displaying the conversation is far too small. For minor questions and answers, it is OK. But when it replies with code, either CSS or PHP, the window is unusable.

I have been copy/pasting each stage of every discussion into notepad, and saving them to a folder. It is a PITA.

Ideally, the AI discussion would go to a new browser tab or new window, and allow saving the discussion for future reference. One of the big failings is that the AI forgets each discussion when the tab is closed (or refreshed). I’ve lost some time going back to re-explain the issue we were working on when accidentally navigating away.

But it has allowed me to do things that were otherwise impossible. I can’t write PHP from scratch, but with Big Sky I can get code snippets to use that accomplish things that the lightweight AI agent can’t help with. I do feel bad for the people who’s living was made by writing code snippets and additional CSS.

Twice I have had to manually fix a page after the AI editor broke it, leaving the big-sky class on the part it was editing. In fact that’s the reason I know it is called Big Sky, it is otherwise very opaque about what it is. And it is really unclear where the separation is between the support AI agent and the Editing AI agent. Both of them have told me that they cant do code or CSS, but big sky has then generated both.

I do worry about the ramifications of using a bot to write code that I don’t understand well enough to assess what damage may result. But that’s where we seem to be going.

    Thanks,
    Greg Stasko

I’d add that the character limit for the entry is far too small. I have to break relatively small chunks of text into multiple entries to get under 600 characters. Adding an instruction each time (wait for second entry before replying).

  • Hello there @travelingwithtools

That’s really good feedback and thanks for that. I’m putting that forward to our developers.

I can’t promise any immediate change, as there is a lot of work underway to develop the AI agent, but I can certainly put it on their radar for you.

    Thanks again for reaching out.
