FG Joomla to WordPress plugin

    Hi,, I am looking to convert my Joomla website to a wordpress site and i have heard that this plugin can do this. Has anyone used this plugin ? also does it just copy the site content to the wordpress site and keep the existing joomla site in tact and running ?

    Hi! I haven’t used that particular plugin, but I have had quite a bit experience with imports over the years.

    – Generally, you’ll export from one, import into the new one, and then make sure everything works before “cutting over” by connecting your domain to the new site.

    – They’ll usually only copy the content and comments, and images. If you’ve got special functions or a theme, you’ll need to redo those on your WordPress site. You’ll also want to double check to be sure the images imported properly and aren’t just referencing the old site.

    Personally (YMMV) I’ve done it this way:

    – Export then import all your stuff to a temp address

    – Ensure the content and images imported properly. If not, address that before proceeding.

    – Do any required customizations, plugin installations, etc. Check to be sure the old urls will work properly, or redirect if needed.

    – When everything looks and works right on the new address, copy any new content and comments over from the old site. Close the old site with a maintenance message. Then give the new site one last look-through before going live.

    – It takes a few hours or even sometimes a day or so for the domain settings to spread across the web, so just give it time. This is why you close the old site, but only right before the switch.

    HI,, thank you for your reply, this is really helpful . My hosting is with One and one at the moment, I came across this plugin by searching on google. This was the only one people seem to be talking about.
