Hello. Under “Settings (Réglages in french) / Writing (Ecriture), we find a field named “Other e-mail addresses”. But next to this field, there is a message indicating : “This field is temporarily unavailable”. Therefore, obsolete e-mail addresses cannot be deleted. Any known reason ? Thanks in advance for any help ! Jean-Louis

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Jean,
WordPress.com provides security controls for data stored within its hosting infrastructure; however, the publicly available WordPress.com documentation does not specify a universal encryption-at-rest algorithm applicable to all customer data. We therefore do not make an unsupported claim regarding AES-256 or another specific at-rest encryption standard. For the institucional.worten.pt environment, confirmation of the applicable encryption-at-rest standard, key-management controls and cryptographic implementation should be obtained directly from WordPress.com/Automattic.

Hi there @jeanlouiswalnier That field at https://cnbbw.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php is only used to add emails of non-users of your site who should receive email notifications of post changes. You can learn more here https://wordpress.com/support/email-post-changes/

The site owner’s email is always shown in that box, but grayed out.

To remove a non-user, uncheck the box next to their email address in the area just above it “Users to Email”. Remember to save your changes by clicking the button at the bottom of that page.

If you are trying to change the email on the site owner’s account, that is done at Account Settings https://wordpress.com/me/account

Post back here if that doesn’t answer your question or you need more help.

The “This field is temporarily unavailable” message is most likely related to a temporary WordPress.com limitation or change to the Settings → Writing → Other e-mail addresses feature, rather than an issue with your individual blog.

Since the field is disabled, the old email addresses cannot be removed from that screen at the moment. I would recommend checking WordPress.com → Account Settings → Security/Email to see whether those addresses are managed at the account level.

If they are not available there either, WordPress.com Support would need to confirm why the field is disabled and remove or update the obsolete addresses if necessary. There is no need to modify the site’s content or database for this issue.

In short, the blog itself is unlikely to be the cause; the message indicates that WordPress.com has temporarily restricted editing of this particular setting.

To all : thank you for the time you took to answer.
To Justjennifer : the issue I face relates to the field “Other e-mail addresses”, not to the field “Users to Email”. And for “Other e-mail addresses”, there is unfortunately no box to uncheck. The field is just greyed out, marked “temporarily unavailable” (but with an address in it…).
To Aundigitaluae : I verified according to your advice but the address I would like to remove from “Other e-mail addresses” is not to find under “Account Settings → Security/Email” (at that place, I only find my own account).
Anyway, thank you for the ideas you shared !

The site owner’s email is always shown in that box (“Other e-mail addresses”), but grayed out.

If there are other emails in “Other e-mail addresses” that are not the site owner’s email, then please list them here. The forum software will redact them from public view, like this (email visible only to moderators and staff) but support staff will still be able to see them.

After you’ve listed them, we can flag your forum thread for staff help.

Just adding that it would also help us to know what problem it is you are trying to solve (other than removing those email addresses, of course.)

Are those people listed formerly admins on the site who are still receiving notifications? If so, have they been removed at Users? https://wordpress.com/support/invite-people/manage-users/

Thank you for your new answer. Actually, there is only one e-mail address in that field “Other e-mail addresses”. It is the name of a mailbox used until recently by our local association of Naturalists ((email visible only to moderators and staff)). This mailbox is going to become obsolete : it will be replaced by an address belonging to a domain specially reserved by the CNB association at a higher level (no longer a GMAIL box). The e-mails of people needing to interact with the site (to administer it, etc) are personal e-mails and are properly listed where the have to be listed, therefore never under “Other e-mail addresses”. Although I am the principal adminstrator of this site, I don’t know the reason why this (email visible only to moderators and staff) address is listed there. This address was used in some forms whose purpose is to allow visitors of the site to post messages to our association. But in those forms, this (almost) obsolete mailbox name is already replaced by the new one. My only objective is to delete the last trace of this old mailbox name from ou site. Thanks again for your attention.
