File download counter badly needed for my blog

  Dear Support Team,

  I know that when using wordpress.com I am unable to add plug ins. However, I also know that a passionate appeal to the developers team can help remedy that situation. I would like to propose that WordPress installs a widget, plug in or simply an additional statistic that monitors the blog that shows how many of each downloadable file has been downloaded by readers of the site. I believe that this will be an invaluable tracking tool for every single one of your users who ever include downloadable files. I know for a fact that it will definitely help drive my blog and magazine forward as we will be able to easier track what kind of strategies lead to greater downloads. More than that, we are a non-profit and for us to be able to point to tangible download figures will mean our chances of getting funding to improve our magazine will be greatly increased. Subsequently, it will also mean that we will be able to spend more to ameliorate the magazine and our WordPress site by purchasing upgrades for custom fonts and eventually becoming self-hosted. In all, everybody wins. Please, please, please help us grow and be better.
