file download stats

    Hello, I just have a question about the file download stats. Just wondering how it works, (new at this)… if no one has visited my site, but there are file download recorded for that day, how does that work?

    Hi there!

    Someone doesn’t have to visit your site to download files you have added to a post or page.

    If your site is public, all media library files are also public, and they get indexed by search engines just like posts and pages. So someone can get a link to a specific file via a Google search result and download it directly from there.

    Likewise, if someone has visited your site, and then shares a link to the specific file with someone else, rather than a link to the page, that person will also be able to directly access the file without visiting your site and generating a View stat.
