finding my way around a strange site

I began a blog today. I created a first post. When I went back and tried to view it, I couldn’t. So the first question is how can anyone else view it. When I logged back in, I was able to retrieve a page by clicking on “posts” that allowed me to see that I had posted an entry (tho it was listed 3 times), but I could only view it (by clicking on one of the 3 listings) in a somewhat raw form. Second question: what am I missing? How am I supposed to post an entry and view it (with others) in a clean format that I can edit? None of the answers here seem self-evident. Please read this first brief post for guidance.

Have you confirmed your account via email with WordPress.com? Until you do, your posts will not be public.

If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.

I recommend:
Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/
Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.How am I supposed to post an entry and view it (with others) in a clean format that I can edit?

Front page error message:
Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the error message will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

I confirmed my email address and still have the same problems. I posted/published an entry, not a page, so I shouldn’t be getting any error messages.

I posted/published an entry, not a page, so I shouldn’t be getting any error messages.
As it is not appearing on the front page of the blog I think we can conclude it’s either a draft post or it’s in the trash.

I hit the “publish” icon, next to 1 of the 3 posts marked “drafts” and magically it now appears when I type in my blogsite address. I still don’t know what’s going on when I hit the “posts” icon and get the same raw entry stuff when it was a mere “draft”–and that page says I posted my entry 3 hrs ago!
It’s still not clear how to edit my entry. Why does this have to be so hard? Can’t they design a website that’s easy to use, as I can’t imagine how so much of this mess I’ve seemingly created got created.

Go to > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts
Hover over the draft post’s title and click the Edit link
