First year payment

  I am thinking about purchasing a premium plan. It says the first year is free with an annual payment subscription. However, when I place it in the cart, it straight away asks me to pay the annual amount at checkout. Would I be charged straight away with an annual plan for what theoretically should be year 2 or do I get the opportunity to try it out for a year without payment, and then decide if I’d like to renew at the stated cost?

  The plan itself must be paid at the start.

  What’s included for free for the first year is the domain registration, which will then renew the following year at this rate: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/
