Flexibility Lacking

I have a hosted website that uses WordPress, but with limited options for me. Can I setup a WordPress account and migrate my new blogs over to my website?

  • Hi there,

You can migrate content from WordPress sites hosted elsewhere to WordPress.com, yes.

First, you’ll need to create a free WordPress.com site on our end.

Then log into the dashboard on your existing site and create an export file of your content at Tools ->Export.

That file you can then import on our end at My Site ->Tools ->Import:

    Import a Website

Note this will move only your content, i.e. post and pages. Media files should be moved as well, but the original site must be online and publicly accessible during the import for media files to transfer correctly.

Your theme and plugins will not be moved. If you want to move and continue using those as well, you’ll need our Business Plan. Then our team can help you move the entire site using a migration plugin instead.
