Fluctuating Viewer Stats

  In the last couple of days, we have been noticing a fluctuation in viewer stats on the site. Today, it has changed four times. Before I logged off at 11:00 am PST, we were showing 156 hits. I checked it again from your moble app around 1:30pm PST and it had shown that we had tied traffic from the previous day. I came home and logged in at 2:30 pm PST and it shows the traffic number has dropped back to the number it was before I left.

  This same issue happened yesterday (8/9/2011), when the tracking views dropped by 10 from the time I checked it online and then checked it later on your app. Is anyone else seeing the same issue? I mean, how can I have 156 hits and the highest blog only has 4 views?

  I don’t see anything particularly wrong with your stats, but it sounds like the discrepancy is really between the Dashboard and your mobile app. Is that true?

  Macmanx, you obviously didn’t understand that the changes also occured using the web interface, as well. One time they are showing us high and the next instance it drops. timethief has gotten the right idea. Thank you timethief.

  On occasions I have noticed the stats counter as going up or down a bit and have always chalked it up to some sort of cache issue maybe even on my PC. yes it was annoying but in the end it is the trend to look at. My take is that stats go up and stats go down and while I look at them I don’t get too excited over any single number and only really pay much attention to the end of the day count. But my stats bounce quite a bit and having a day that is down 75% over the day before is not unusual.

  As a Dr. friend said about many things – take two Valium with a beer and pizza then don’t worry. :)
