For a government website, how to handle public records requests?

If I use WordPress to build a government website, how would I advise my client to handle a public records request? They may need a way to recreate a page exactly as it was on a certain date or at least print that page. Is that possible? How to do that with WordPress?

The short answer is that your clients should talk with their lawyer to find out what they are required to preserve, for how long, in what manner.
We (WordPress.com) cannot provide legal advice on that sort of thing.
There are some WordPress.com features that may help with public records requests. We save post revisions, for example:

And you can always export your site at any given point and archive it:
