formatting "more" tag with an image
-
I’ve noticed on some blogs, when their posts are summarised on the home page through the use of the “more” tag, a smaller “thumbnail” image appears to the left or right of the text.
However, when you open the post, the image appears large at the start of the post, followed by the text.
How do I format my posts like this?
Many thanks!

Hi there,
Can you give me a link to one or more of the blogs you’ve seen that do this? It’s most likely a feature of the theme they’re using, but it will help if I can see a specific example to make sure I understand what you mean. :)

Thank you so much Happiness Engineer! Here’s a link: http://www.elementsathome.com.au/category/interiors
You may be right in that is a theme thing but you never know!
Thanks again!

Thanks for that example! That is indeed a feature of the theme that blog is using. That particular blog isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com and their theme isn’t a WordPress.com theme, but there are some themes here that have similar features:
For example, the Expound theme has a very similar feature — it shows a thumbnail image on the home page, and the full image when you open the full post. The Traction theme shows a small image on both the home page and the full post.
You might also want to explore all of the themes that use featured images in our theme showcase to see how else themes can display those images. Themes like Triton Lite, Candela, and Solar have a different sort of layout but also display a thumbnail image on the home page with a larger image on the post page.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Ah thought that may be the case. Thank you so much for your advice, really appreciate it.
Best,
