Formatting & WP editor

    Hi!

    I write poetry, and want to replicate the form I write in (by hand), as well, as I can when publishing it online.

    Since I need my poems transcribed on computer anyway, it is the simplest (and least time consuming) for me to write them in Word, and then copy them into the WP editor. But since I use space(s) to move my lines around, the formatting gets destroyed in the WP editor. The worst are the blocks, but classic isn’t much better either. The automatic double spacing between the lines makes my poems look like shit, and the classic simply eats up all the spaces that hold the formatting together. The only way for me to actually keep the formatting is by using the preformated option, which gives a background, and font that I can’t change, and don’t like either.

    This is a major turn-down for me on WP, and I would like to know how I can just paste my poems from Word, keep my original formatting, so it stays like it is with all the spaces, and everything.

    Please help me out with some useful information, and/or actually improving the editor for us, who don’t write directly into WP.

    Greetings,
    Gaj JC

    Ok, figured it out. For anyone else having a similar question;

    Verse block in the block editor keeps the original formatting, but the font seems to be stuck in italic. :)

  • Thanks so much for posting your findings. I’m certain someone will find that useful. Don’t be shy if you run in to any other questions/issues. We’re happy to help!
