  I want to keep this domain but I require to delete this site. This site is old. Why can’t I take this website down?

  Hi @heatherkamerman,

  It’s necessary on WordPress.com to have a domain associated with a site, which is why you can’t delete the site so long as the domain remains registered.

  If you have a site hosted elsewhere, you can setup custom DNS records to point the domain to another host.

  If you plan to just keep the domain parked on WordPress.com, and are no longer using your site, I suggest the following:

  * Empty your site: https://wordpress.com/support/empty-site/
  * Set your site to private: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
