  Hello. I want to start with a free account, but I already own a domain. Is there no way to use my domain and a free plan, or do I have to purchase a paid plan to use my own domain?

  We have two ways to use a domain you already own with a site here at WordPress.com:

  Domain Connection allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

  Both will require a paid plan, any paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
