free domain

  Hi I started a webpage using a free domain – but now that I have finished working on it for some reason it does not allow me to launch it – and wordpress is asking me to buy the domain – very strange…it is a .wordpress.com domain name…so not sure what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for any input. I had done a previous site in the same way and had no issues launching it…

  Hi! Could you confirm what’s happening when you try to launch? Where are you clicking, and what does it say?

  Sorry for the delay – went to my parents home.

  so my webpage is done and when I am in the page where the wordpress dashboard is at the top is a message that says: “Your site hasn’t been launched yet. Only you can see it until it is launched.” So, since I am now done i click where it says “launch site”

  and then it takes me to the page where normally you pick up a domain name – and my free domain name: “simpleyogawebsites.wordpress.com”, that i had chosen days ago shows in the box at the top.

  I am now thinking it could be a constraint that I can only have one free website…and I have another one already there…

  Thanks for confirming that – and if so is there a way I can transfer that website to a different owner – I dont want to lose it even if I am not actively using it now. else will need to delete it, I guess.

  Fixed it Supernovia – exported my old site to another account and now my new site was launched :-)

  And it wouldn’t let you proceed just continuing with that free address?

  There is no limit to the number of free sites you can have in the same account, and registering a custom domain is not a requirement for launching any site.

  Not sure what you’re referring to here, as @supernovia didn’t confirm anything but just asked for more information on what’s going on.

  Hi kokkieh – when I said “thanks for confirming that” it was a request, badly written. I should have written: “I would appreciate if you confirm that”

  Yes very strange – but once i removed the old site it worked. But thanks for letting me know it was not necessary. It is good to know.
