free domain name coming up as unavailable

  Hi,
  I had the domain name hayleywritesthings for my existing blog and chaged it to hayleyreadsthings because I want that to be solely for my literature reviews and to publish my writing on a separate site. I made this new site and have tried to reclaim the domain name hayleywritesthings, only to have an error come up that the name is not available. I’ve tried accessing hayleywritesthings.wordpress.com and have found that the site is ‘no longer available’ meaning my previous username should still be available, but I cannot reclaim it. Could you please help?

  When you renamed your site it was very clearly stated the old name would become locked forever.
