Free excerpt

    I wish to change my Free Excerpt for my book. I need specific instructions please. I do not wish to change the photograph one clicks to get to the text, just the chapters I offer for free. Basically, there have been several re-writes and it needs to be updated. The original and the replacement are almost the same size. What must I click to open and delete the current content and then do I simply copy and paste the replacement? Please help. I’d like to be able to do this myself and not go to a service and pay for the simple actions every time. Approach me as you would approach someone with little or no knowledge of how to navigate your site…very specific and clear instructions please.

    Hi there!

    Here are the steps to update your book excerpt:

    1. To go Media > Add New and upload the new PDF document.
    2. Once the document is uploaded, click on the Edit button next to the newly updated file.
    3. Copy the File URL from the module on the right hand side.
    4. Go to Appearance > Widgets
    5. Open the Text widget under “Main Sidebar”.
    6. Find where the code says href=”http://rebeccabranch.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/summerof71-sixchaptersample.pdf” and replace the entire URL listed after href= with the File URL you copied in step 3
    7. Make sure there are quotes (“) around the URL
    8. Save your changes
