Free Plan Domain URL added random numbers.

Hi there,
When I set up a new free plan, I supplied a name which I thought was not taken. I don’t remember being notified if it was taken or not.
When I went to set up the site, I realised that a bunch of random numbers was added to the end of the name I have (for example ‘mysite’ turned into ‘mysite311508146’).
You can understand this is a bit frustrating and makes accessing the site a bit more difficult then just using the simple name without all those numbers. Is it possible for me to change/fix the name?
I’d like to use the Free Plan for a little while before jumping onto a paid plan with a domain name.

If wordpress.com adds random numbers, it means that domainname has already been used or is reserved.

Yea, I’m aware of that now.
I guess the question now is whether or not I can change it to a different name.
