Free site won’t load
-
AI assistant took me through clearing cache/cookies etc, using different browser but nothing works. Site is local only as I’m experimenting with using WordPress for a planned web site. Dashboard opens as normal but under Appearance “Editor” is greyed out. AI suggested turning off “coming soon” page through Settings – General but while a drop down menu appears when the cursor hovers over Settings the sub-menu items are greyed out and the sub-menu disappears if any of the items are clicked. Trying to open site or Editor eventually returns a page not found error. I’ve had no trouble with WordPress for the 2 weeks I’ve been using it – but its not giving me a lot of confidence WordPress is worth continuing with.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! This sounds like your site is still in “Coming Soon” mode which is why the Editor appears greyed out and the site won’t load publicly.
Here’s how to fix it:
- Go to your Dashboard
- Click on Settings
- Look for “Coming Soon” or “Launch Site” option
- Toggle it off or click “Launch your site”
Once you launch the site the Editor should become fully accessible and your site will be visible to visitors.
If the Settings menu is still greying out and disappearing, try using a different browser like Chrome or Firefox, or clear your browser cache completely before trying again.
Hope this helps!
