Hi there,
I’m sure you can have any number of sites you want!!
https://wordpress.com/support/create-a-blog/#adding-a-new-site-or-blog-to-an-existing-accountMany thanks!

I tried the link, copied the information, but initially nothing happened when I clicked to open a new free site. After several tries I gave up (last week). I had another go today and it went straight through and I transferred my information over from another of my wordpress sites – marvelous ! it would seem it was something to do with my Internet. However that’s where my spirits were dashed when I couldn’t set up my transferred information to a new theme.
I downloaded a new free theme (Arbutus) and Blockbase as suggested but there were no instructions about what to do with the downloads. Although my pages are there in the Pages section I can’t seem to get them to become visible, and the theme that shows doesn’t seem to be Arbutus, but another theme I viewed (but wasn’t asked to download)
Anyone know where I go from here, please ? -
Hey,
I see you’re using the Twenty Eleven theme.
You can activate the arbutus theme here right away if you want to: https://wordpress.com/theme/arbutus/geoff2250.wordpress.com

Hi there,
I downloaded a new free theme (Arbutus) and Blockbase as suggested but there were no instructions about what to do with the downloads.
The downloadable versions of those themes are for people who use the open source version of WordPress at other hosting providers.
For a site already hosted on WordPress.com, like your site at http://geoff2250.wordpress.com/, all themes listed at WordPress.com/themes are already pre-installed on your site, and all you need to do is activate the one you want; no need to install anything :)

Although my pages are there in the Pages section I can’t seem to get them to become visible
Are you perhaps speaking of a different site? I see two published pages on http://geoff2250.wordpress.com/, and both of them are added to and visible in the menu you have active on that site.
If you’re speaking of a different site, the issue is most likely that you’re using a theme that doesn’t display a menu by default. In that case you can create a custom menu and add that to the theme instead, to make links to your pages available:

I’m afraid I was confusing the issue as I was referring to two different websites. I have finally transferred over the information from geoff2250 to wensleyrailstock. How I achieved this is a complete mystery to me, but blood, sweat and tears was involved. If I had a “Home” page with geoff2250 I do not know what I have done with it, but the Menu I set up did not include anything saying “Hello from WordPress” and which has now changed to “Nothing found” when I tried to delete it. I can see something that says “Launch Site”, but this now takes me to the same page where I set up my new site, and I can see absolutely nothing that says “publish”, and under the “My Sites” section it still says the website is “coming soon”. I kept the “Twenty Eleven” theme, didn’t realise it was still there, as my internet is only slow on the uptake. Thanks for trying to point me in the right direction. If this is the basic version of WordPress I’d hate to see the complicated.

Hi @geoff2250,
I’m afraid I was confusing the issue as I was referring to two different websites. I have finally transferred over the information from geoff2250 to wensleyrailstock. How I achieved this is a complete mystery to me, but blood, sweat and tears was involved.
Thanks for clarifying. More than likely, you exported your content from
geoff2250.wordpress.comand imported it towensleyrailstock.wordpress.com.If I had a “Home” page with geoff2250 I do not know what I have done with it, but the Menu I set up did not include anything saying “Hello from WordPress” and which has now changed to “Nothing found” when I tried to delete it.
When migrating content, this doesn’t bring over all your settings, such as customizations (e.g. menus) and homepage settings.
* To set a static front page, please follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/
* To add pages to your menu, please refer to: https://wordpress.com/support/menus/add-links-to-a-menu/For what it’s worth, it looks like your “Home” page may have been trashed. You can recover this by going to Pages → Trash.
I can see something that says “Launch Site”, but this now takes me to the same page where I set up my new site, and I can see absolutely nothing that says “publish”, and under the “My Sites” section it still says the website is “coming soon”.
You can launch your site by going to Settings → General.
I kept the “Twenty Eleven” theme, didn’t realise it was still there, as my internet is only slow on the uptake.
To change your theme to Arbutus, please go to Appearance → Themes.
Thanks for trying to point me in the right direction. If this is the basic version of WordPress I’d hate to see the complicated.
It’s our pleasure.

I think I have finally achieved success, although it took me another hour to do so.
I am an irregular user, so what I did six or seven years ago was probably not the best way to set up the site which I used as the base of my renamed site, but it seemed to work, the fact that I had set up three different menus didn’t help at all and it was only when I rationalised them to one menu did things start to look as though they were going in the right direction.
The final hurdle was the publishing one. It was only at my third visit to the Launch Site page that I thought about clicking on the site name at the bottom of the page rather than the what looked the most obvious “Skip payments” offering.
I’m sorry this sounds a bit critical, as you have been so helpful in providing me with directions to helpful sources, but just one little thing that is everyday usage to a regular user, is the difference to it being a big thing to an irregular user, and their ability to appreciate access to the free platforms that are offered by your organisation.
