Free Subscribe Plug-in?

    I have a hobby blog ( brownthumbgardeningok.com ) that I would like to add a subscribe plug-in. I just started the blog last year and without an ability for visitors to subscribe, they just go away never to return. I need a way to remind them when I add new posts.
    Being a hobby (for now) blog I don’t make any money off of it so free would be great. Maybe with a bunch of subscribers I could get into some affiliate program.
    Do I really need to join some email marketing place to do this?
