Free Year of Domain Hosting with Transferred Domain

    Hi. I need to transfer an externally owned domain to use with my WordPress.com account. I’d like to use the first year of domain hosting perk. Do I need to transfer the external domain into my account at the time that I am paying for my subscription, or can I redeem the 1 year of domain hosting at a later time, after I’ve purchased my subscription?

    Hi there,

    To be able to get that free domain credit you need to purchase one of our plans. The free credit will be consumed once you transfer your domain.

    So, you can purchase a plan and use the free .wordpress.com address that comes with it. When you’re ready to switch to your domain, you can transfer it at no additional cost.
