French Accents in WordPress on Mac
-
Hi there,
When typing my posts on my wordpress.com blog, I use a lot of accents as many of my posts are written partially in French. I use both a mac and windows to type my post and am only experiencing this problem on my Mac. It is only occurring in wordpress and my Mac OS is up to date, so it’s definitely a problem with wordpress.
When I type an accent, for example, é it will appear as ´e which not what I want. However when I begin a line with an accent, it works properly. It is only when I want to use an accented letter in the middle of the line that this problem occurs.
As you may know, there are two ways to type accents on macs: 1) using the option key and 2) holding down the letter to wait for options to appear. I have tried both of these and neither are working in wordpress while they are working in google and the other websites that I use. How would I be able to go about fixing this?
Thank you

Hi there,
I’m sorry about that! Our team is aware of this issue and we’re looking into it now. Thanks for reporting it. :)
In the meantime, you should be able to switch from the Visual editor to the Text editor and enter accented letters there. Once you’ve entered the accented letter, you can switch back to the Visual editor.
I’ll let you know as soon as I have an update from our team about this!

To give you an update, I tried changing browsers, but that didn’t work. I can however use the accented letters in the new wordpress section (the light blue part), but not in the old wordpress dashboard (with all of the settings).
Thanks again! :)
