Functionality Issues
-
Hello,
My name is Kayla Sheridan. I’m a Program Coordinator at the Mansfield Center at the University of Montana. I spoke over the phone with a WordPress representative a few weeks ago regarding the accessibility/editability/functionality of our website. I found myself unable to ‘edit’ blog posts that were being posted by our program participants. This is an essential feature to ensure the success of our programs and organizations as sometimes the blogs are not properly organized/created.
To fix the issues, the rep suggested I delete our older posts dating back to 2013 – so I deleted many posts. However, I’m still unable to edit many of our posts. Sometimes I am able to edit, other times I’m unable. Can you help me with this?
We currently have another wordpress account for our other program that has the same, if not more, blog posts as this site and it hasn’t had any issues.
Thanks in advance,
Kayla

Hi Kayla,
I spoke over the phone with a WordPress representative a few weeks ago regarding the accessibility/editability/functionality of our website.
We do not offer phone support on WordPress.com. I don’t know who you spoke to, but it definitely wasn’t anyone who works for us.
To fix the issues, the rep suggested I delete our older posts dating back to 2013 – so I deleted many posts.
No one on our support team would have told you to do that – there is no limit on the number of posts you can have on a WordPress.com site, and the number of posts on a site definitely cannot impact your ability to access or edit your site.
Your account has only contacted us once before, in https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/invalid-post-address-2/, and you never responded to my colleague’s reply in that post.
It sounds like you contacted a third-party WordPress support service that has nothing to do with WordPress.com, and who doesn’t know how our system works. For the future, please note that the only ways to contact WordPress.com support is by posting in this forum, or via the contact form at https://wordpress.com/help/contact.
I found myself unable to ‘edit’ blog posts that were being posted by our program participants.
Can you confirm the URL of the site where this is happening? Your account is the only user on http://mansfieldprofellows.wordpress.com/, and all 271 posts currently on the site were published by your account. I don’t see any posts added by other contributors at any time. I am able to edit any post I try to edit on that site, though.
Can you please provide a link to a specific post where this is happening, as my colleague asked you a few weeks ago?
And are you attempting to edit them via the interface at My Sites ->Site ->Posts, or via the WP-Admin interface at https://mansfieldprofellows.wordpress.com/wp-admin/?
Have you checked whether clearing your browser cache, or logging into your account and attempting to edit the posts using a different browser makes any difference?
