Gallery
-
I inserted a gallery into one of my pages today to showcase my project posts. When I click the images it simply enlarges them. I need them to go to the original post in which the photo was from so people can view the project in its entirety. When I try to change the attachment display settings to ‘Custom URL’ and add the correct link, it defaults back to ‘Media File.’ — http://simplychicforcheap.wordpress.com/projects/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Currently the images in a Gallery will only open in the Photo Carousel, the image Attachment page or the Media file or None. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
I’ve posted 2 workarounds on my Gallery demo site, but that is just what they are, workarounds. You can find them here:
Using Gallery image captions: http://agallerydemo.wordpress.com/2012/07/28/gallery-as-an-index-page/
Using a table instead of a Gallery:
http://agallerydemo.wordpress.com/parent-page/child-page-1/grandchild-page/One other thing you might consider doing is changing themes. There are a number of them that use a grid layout on the front/home page of the site which will, of course, lead your visitors to the relevant post. No need for a Gallery at all.
There is also a somewhat new WPcom feature called Portfolios, which I have not really had the time to delve into yet. You can read about them here http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/04/11/portfolios-on-wordpress-com/ and here http://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/
