Gallery won't post

    I’ve followed Support directions exactly and posting a gallery just isn’t working.

    I’ve tried creating a Gallery on a Page and it appears as posted in the page, then when I preview the page it shows nothing. Then I tried creating a post on that page to put a gallery in that, but then it won’t even give me an option to insert a gallery I can only insert a bunch of images that look cluttered when I really just want a gallery. I’ve tried deleting and trying again, I’ve tried saving it as a draft first, I’ve tried everything I can think of.

    The one time it KIND OF worked was when I had a Post full of the images on that page, and then the page showed one image from the gallery. (I had created a gallery on the page AND images in the post on that page) I’m afraid I might throw my laptop through a window… anyone else have this problem? :(

    To use the gallery, you either have to upload the images from within the editor when that page is open in the editor, or you have to use the include shortcode property and reference the ID# of the post or page that the images were uploaded into.

    There is also the possibility that the preview page is not working as it should. Go back to the page that you created the original gallery in, preview the page, and then while viewing the preview, force refresh that page and see if the gallery then appears.

    How do I access the gallery shortcode I am trying to exclude images from the gallery)? And, is there any way that one can see the gallery images in the edit post format, as opposed to the gallery icon?

    Once you insert the gallery, then you switch to the HTML tab and put in the exclude attribute do a comma separated list like this

    [gallery exclude="17,54,21"]

    where 17, 54 and 21 are the image attachment IDs. See this support document for more information and for how to find the attachment IDs.
