General Domain Mapping Query
-
I would like my existing wp.com domain to map to my new domain: watchingthehouse.org, but I would like to be able to edit my site through my 3rd party domain so that I have access to plug-ins and the other advanced features that are not available on my wp.com account. However, now that I have mapped the domain, I can not login to my watchingthehouse.org/wp-admin and am re-directed back to the more limited wp.com dashboard.
What settings should I use to make this possible?
Am I better off just importing my wp.com site onto my webhost and foregoing the domain mapping process altogether (since I want to use the server installation of wordpress instead of the wp.com version)?
I am using iPages to host my domain. Thank you for your time.

You’ll need to actually move your blog over to your hosting provider, otherwise you’re still working on WordPress.com.
You’ll need to change your domain’s nameservers through your domain registrar to point to iPages.
Then, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
