Generating CSR code for SSL certificate
-
Hello
I bought my domain name at name.com and host it in WordPress through name.com. I also purchased an SSL certificate from name.com and have received the following instructions.
‘Since you are not using Name.com hosting, you’ll need to generate a CSR code through your hosting provider, then copy and paste it into this field (including the —BEGIN CERTIFICATE— and —END CERTIFICATE— text). Please contact your hosting provider for specific instructions on generating your CSR code.
NOTE: To cover both the bare and www subdomains, your CSR must be generated with the http://www.’
How do I generate CSR code?
Thank you

Hi there,
If you’re hosting your site through Name.com, you need to set up the SSL certificate with them, not with us. In that case your site is using the open source WordPress.org software, not WordPress.com, and we have nothing at all to do with your site.
“WordPress” refers to the software used to build your site. “Hosting” refers to whose servers that software is installed on. WordPress.com is a hosting provider, like Name.com, with the difference that we use our own version of the WordPress software here while you’d be using the open source version if you host with Name.com.
We automatically issue SSL certificates for all sites hosted on WordPress.com, but we cannot help with SSL on WordPress sites hosted at other providers. For that you need to contact your hosting provider directly.
