Get a website down or who can I sue?
-
Hi,
My private information is shared on a site from this company and I already contacted the people who had the site, but they don’t have the possibility to remove or take down the website, the person that started it is gone. I tried with the Account Recovery procedure. But that’s a dead-end, I have no proof of ownership and after have written the whole story, it just didn’t send it to anybody. I’m trying to stay calm and now posting this then here…WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: NoThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

If and only if that site is running on the wordpress.com platform, so not a self-hosted site using the open source wordpress.org, you can report it at https://en.support.wordpress.com/report-blogs/
In first place it’s up to the people who are having this site, to restore access to the account owning that site. If the original owner died, they must follow the procedure as described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/deceased-user/
To find out where a site is hosted – https://wordpress.com/site-profiler

Bedankt Staartmees!
It said: “Looks like the owner of this site has great taste. The site and domain are both hosted on WordPress.com!”
I’ll give that report a try.
The “owner” had a mail-address with a domain that is gone now, so the mail-address is also surely gone. I’m trying to track the person, but he doesn’t live anymore in the community he made the website for, a long time ago. I just got contact information to his ex as a lead, but I’m sure he didn’t keep any info, so that’s most likely a dead end anyway.
