Get domain name after refunding?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello everyone, after I ordered the subscription prenium + 1 domain name, I asked for a refund the next day and I was correctly refunded.

    However, there is a problem:
I want to buy this domain name on another site, but this one is not available.
The domain page displays “This domain is parked – WordPress”

How to buy the domain if it is kept by WordPress, knowing that I “deleted the domain” when refunding?

    cordially

  • Hi there,

What’s the domain name you’re referring to? The account you’re contacting us from has never made any purchase.

Sorry, I wasn’t connect with the good account.

    The domain is https://studentmoney.fr/

    Cordially

  • Hey there,

You canceled the domain within 5 days of registering it, so it should be available again soon. Once a domain name is deleted by the registry at this stage, it is immediately available for registration by any registrant through any Registrar, and that happens shortly after the 5 day grace period.

We can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5 day period, but after that we no longer have control over it. So, depending on where you want to register the domain (with us or elsewhere), you should decide ASAP on how you want it re-registered. You can always point the domain over to your host from WordPress.com until 60 days of registration hits (where you can transfer the domain anywhere you please). That will at least guarantee you will get it back without any potential complications. Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I just want to buy this domain with an other service.

But, the domain rest “parked” by WordPress.

You say the domain must be available immediately?
But it’s not the case after one week..

    Cordially

  • We can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5 day period

Correct. We can restore the domain to WordPress.com. Based on your previous comment though it seems you want to register that domain at another party. If you’d like us to re evaluate this possibility write back to inform us of that.

Otherwise, the domain is available to register anywhere 5 days after the cancellation. It looks like this is the fifth day. I do see that it has yet to process out of our system. So, there’s 2 options.

    1. try and register that domain as new, later on today and again tomorrow.
    2. we can restore it to your WordPress.com account and then you can point the domain to the new service from your WordPress.com dashboard.

Yes, i would the first option : buy the domain in other service.
We are 3 days after your comment and the domain name is still parked.

There is a problem with your system ?

    Thank’s for your help

  • It looks like something in the process glitched on us because the domain was purchased on June 7th and cancelled on June 9th and it should have just been released after 5 days. For some reason it didn’t happen.

I can see it still has the parked status.

Here’s what we can do to insure that you maintain ownership of the domain.

I’m going to restore the domain to your account. It’s going to be listed under My Sites from the upper left hand tab in your dashboard.

The domain can be pointed to any other service simply by clicking on My Sites – Domains – Manage – Edit DNS

That’s where you’ll put the new name server information in. If you have trouble I can do it for you, just specify what name servers your new provider has instructed you to use.

Then, once the domain is actually 60 days of age you can transfer it outright to a new domain registrar.

This option will allow you to maintain ownership and keep using the domain until it can be transferred.

I understand there is a problem and it’s not matter.

However, I would like, if possible, not to wait 60 days to transfer the domain..

If the domain can be restored 5 days after the refund, why not transfer now with manipulation of WordPress?
I just need a transfer code.

    Sorry to insist !

  • However, I would like, if possible, not to wait 60 days to transfer the domain..

It’s out of our control. This is an ICANN regulation that all domain registrars must abide by.

For now you can still use the domain at the new service by pointing the name servers in their direction. It gives the same effect. Once the domain is old enough you can transfer it outright, but for now, this is the only option.

Please contact them and ask what name servers you should use to point the domain to them. I will help you get everything set up on our side.
