Get Domain Name back
-
A member of our church previously purchased a domain name for us via WordPress. He is no longer a member and we have not been able to get in touch with him. We want to renew the domain name but have not been able to. It is currently expired. How can we purchase it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the domain URL? I can email the owner of the domain and see if I can touch base.
Let me know, thanks!

It’s bauucgarden.org.
The owner is Patrick Ferrell. We’ve tried contacting him and he doesn’t get back to us.

What makes things complicated is that the domain is expired, so even if he agrees to transfer the domain – we’ll have to most likely pay for a redemption fee of $80 in addition to the registration. If you agree to pay for that, I can look into restoring the domain.
Otherwise, you can possibly purchase the domain through an auction while it is in redemption:

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your help. I have another question about this same blog but it’s not related to the domain name. Since Patrick is no longer a member I tried to remove him as an administrator. I received an error that said “There was an error removing @cactus314”. I am currently an administrator of the blog along with him and 2 others.

Hi there,
The reason you would have trouble removing administrators is if you are not an administrator yourself or if the administrator you’re trying to remove is the owner of the account. If that is the case, the owner will need to transfer ownership of the blog over to another admin, which will automatically remove them as a user of the site.
