Getting a domain name owned by someone else

    Hello,
    I just got my WordPress site but had to compromise a little as the domain I wanted is already registered to someone else. I looked up for the one I wanted and it looks like a personal blog which had its last update dated 2006.
    Now it’s pretty obvious the owner doesn’t use it anymore so maybe he/she doesn’t even need it anymore. I tried asking it out to the owner itself but couldn’t find any way to connect or contact details. Can you please help me with the same cause it’s anyway getting wasted.
    Do revert to this as I seriously plan to have a blog/website for my potential start-up. Awaiting your response,

    This subject has appeared in the forums before and staff have always replied that there is no time limit on WordPress.com sites, even ones that haven’t been updated in a decade and have little or no content. So I’m afraid that site address belongs to someone else and cannot be released to you (unless there is a comments/contact page where you could ask the owner if they would transfer the site to your account).
    As well as my current site I have an old empty site that I may or may not use in the future. I would be mightily peeved if WordPress.com took it away from me just because someone else liked the address.
