Getting back an expired site

    highburyapprenticeships.com has expired one day ago. I believe the domain is currently in the redemption period 10 to 14 days.

    My colleague with the username of @highburycollege set up the site and granted me access. He has since left the business. Although I have admin rights, I am unable to renew the domain.

    I am at a loss of how to renew the site with WordPress. Much effort has gone into the website. Please, can someone direct me on how to get this website back online, please? Thank you.

    Hi there,

    highburyapprenticeships.com is not in redemption, as it only expired two days ago. Expired domains only enter redemption at around 40 days.

    However, we cannot renew the domain at your request. You are an admin on the site connected to the domain, but the domain itself belongs to a different WordPress.com account, and only that account can renew the domain.

    Please contact your former colleague and ask him to properly transfer ownership of the domain to your account. Then you’ll be able to manage it going forward:

    Optionally he can also transfer ownership of the site itself to your account:

    Currently his account still owns the site, so while you are an admin and can manage most aspects of the site, you cannot, for example, remove their access from the site, which means they still have the ability to make any changes they want, including even deleting the site. I’m sure you don’t want someone who is no longer involved with the business to have that ability.
