Getting Help
-
Hello,
I am trying to decide if I should go this way or with wordpress.org. I read you do not own your domain if you go with wordpress.com, is it true? Does it hurt SEO?
How does support work (real technical support?), or do I get help ONLY from the community? If yes technical support, is it live chat? Do I get help after 5pm and weekends? What is the response time?
I have bought courses where they said they offer support, but your lucky to get an email a week latter. I am not good at this stuff, I need real help!
Thanks -
Hi there,
I am trying to decide if I should go this way or with wordpress.org.
For a good list of differences between the two, please visit: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You will not own your domain no matter where you register it. Officially owning your domain is a expensive, complicated process which is why you have the option of registering them through domain hosts. You are able to create a .wordpress.com URL which allows you to have a site and site URL for free. Most people pay for upgrades, however, because having a custom domain does assist with SEO. The domain initially comes with a plan you purchase: http://wordpress.com/plans

Once you have purchased a plan, you will have access to live chat support that is available 24 hours a day. Here is link which details are various support options:
If our operators are busy, then it may take a few minutes to get someone – or you can feel free to create a ticket and we would reply to you via email usually within 24 hours.
Hope this helps. Thanks!

Please open your own support request at https://wordpress.com/help/contact, and also include a link to your site and a description of the problem.
