getting 'HTTP Error' message on trying to upload images

I am just getting ‘HTTP Error’ message on trying to upload images – it was working fine for a day or two, now nothing works. Tried asking the host – they can’t fix it, no idea and gave up. I have tried doing a couple of things on the forum, (adding a bit of code in the themes) but no joy. Nothing works -a problem since the point of this for me was the images. ~BUT if you do have any ideas, I’d need to be walked through it (I am new to this). Help really needed.

The fact that the site may have been built using WordPress, or may mention ‘Powered by WordPress’ (or something similar) simply means it is using the WordPress.org software, which can be downloaded and installed on any web host.
