Getting rid of my home page look and making it into a blog entry instead

  On my home page the screen says that no archives have been found, and it has a search bar under it. I would like to completely get rid of that because I don’t want that to be the first thing people see when they come to my blog. I would like my home page to be my about me instead, but I can’t figure out how to make a small blog entry on my home page

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Go through http://learn.wordpress.com and don’t worry about how the blog looks until you have at least four blog posts up. No theme looks right until then.
