    I’m pitching to develop a new website for a friend that already has an existing site. It gives me the option of buying an address or mapping to an existing address. I don’t want to map to his address till I have mastered WordPress and demonstrated capability. How do I get started?

    Get started with a free site address. Click on My Sites – Domains – Add

    There’s no need to upgrade or connect the domain. You can even hide the site from the internet until it’s ready. That is just a simple privacy setting.
