Getting started small
-
Hi All – I was in business online for 20 years – retired now and just need a simple page for this and that and several email addresses. I own our personal domain that is registered at GoDaddy (where I still own a dozen or more domains from before).
What do you recommend for a simple, inexpensive starting point? Is direct at WordPress.com the best way to go (over an external WordPress host?). Is WordPress the best way to go?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Barb,
I highly recommend WordPress.com. With a great collection of professionally-designed themes and thousands of easy‑to‑install plugins the platform really has no limits. Be it a simple blog or a fully fledged e-commerce site you can build it with WordPress.com.
Fun fact: 39% of the web is built on WordPress, thus others believe in this awesome platform too.
Your domain(s) can be easily redirected from GoDaddy or even moved to WordPress.com.
I hope my short testimonial helps.
Kind regards,

I do have a question – in the past, we could make new email addresses on the fly, usually unlimited. I think I see that WordPress doesn’t offer that… (at all?). Yep, I’m confused.

Hi there,
We just recently added a new feature for users to add email addresses to their site if they wish. Here is more information on making new emails through WordPress.com:

Hope that helps. let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
