Ghost Followers?
-
At the bottom of my page, I enabled a widget that tracks the number of followers I have – however, this number shows an incredibly large one – 777. Image here.
The site is fortressseven.wordpress.com, and its freshly made. When I check followers in the site’s ‘people -> followers’ tab, the only follower is myself.
Is this a bug, or something intended? This number has been increasing over the past day, and I’m unsure if I’m missing something or if this is a ghost number.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
On what site are you seeing that? In the footer of https://fortressseven.wordpress.com/ it’s showing me only one follower.
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if that makes any difference.

Hey there!
Its cleared up now, thanks! No clue why, but previously it was showing the followers count constantly going up.

Sounds like it was just a glitch on your site. If it happens again, please let me know.
Also note that if you connect a Twitter or Facebook account under Sharing, your follower counts for those services are added to your WordPress.com follower count. Just keep that in mind for the future :)

That there would explain it, I just recently disconnected my facebook and twitter to make sure that had no issues, and that turned everything down to 1.
Pretty misleading if you ask me, after all, the formatting does suggest ‘Email Followers’ as it suggests a new follower to follow through email!
Thank you so much for the feedback!
