Godaddy Domain

  Hi,

  I have a domain purchased through godaddy and hosted with godaddy. I tried setting up the website but step 5 of 5 requests that I choose one of the plans – all require payment (Lowest at $5 per month). Am I doing something incorrect or is it not possible to build a free website for a domain hosted by godaddy?

  Good Morning –

  I think there’s some confusion here about the different versions of WordPress.

  This is WordPress.com. A managed hosting environment. In order to connect a custom domain you need a plan on the account.

  When using the other version of WordPress which is the open source software, you do not need any kind of plan. That version of WordPress is much more technical and hands on. There is help available through the community forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ With this option you also have to pay for hosting (which is included on WordPress.com).
