Good way to gather a list of publicly available personal blogs hosted on WordPress?

  Hi, I’m a PhD student in applied linguistics, and I’m interested in the language people use in their personal blogs. Is there a way that I can generate a list of publicly available personal blogs hosted on WordPress? Or maybe there’s a way to filter the Discover content to only show the personal blogs that are being featured? I’m thinking I’ll need to gather 1,000+ URLs, and I want to weed out any blogs that are hosted by a company or professional organization that might have professional writers and editors creating content. I’m most interested in the language everyday people use to create content for their blogs.

  I do not know of any way to do this but maybe Staff can assist. Note that while you are waiting we do have other language support forums https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/forums-in-other-languages-not-english?replies=1 that will give you and idea of the most common languages used in WordPress.COM hosted sites.

  Hi there,

  There are millions of sites on WordPress.com, and any type of listing by type of blog would lead to a directory of at least tens of thousand, if not hundreds of thousands of sites. It is not feasible to have any type of directory like that.

  We also don’t classify sites in our system in terms of purpose or the type of content they post, or whether it’s owned by a company, a professional writer, or a personal blogger (by the way, there is no rule saying a professional writer can’t blog about personal stuff) so we don’t even have that kind of information available internally.
