  • Howdy –

It takes about 6 weeks for Google to index a new site. Your site looks old enough to be queried by now, though. What search terms have you been trying?

I see a Facebook page in Google results for Dunedin Dance and there’s also http://dunedindance.co.nz/

    Are either of those yours?

I’ve also double checked the site settings and it is allowing search engines to find it.

Hi, thanks for looking at this. I just search for things like Dunedin dance academy and I’ve tried putting in the actual site name but Google can’t see it at all. I think the Facebook link is us, the other webpage isn’t. My page is only about 5 down the list on bing, so it’s just Google that can’t see it.

  • Hi there,

To officially check to see if your site is in Google, you can place site:dunedindanceacademy.wordpress.com into Google Search. I did and nothing came up. As staff-zinnia mentioned, your site has been around long enough for it to be indexed by now.

If you have not already, I would verify your site with Google Webmaster Tools:

Here’s more information on what you can do to get your site indexed:

Hopefully that will expedite the indexing process. Please take a look that the above link and let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the info. I am having a bit of trouble with verifying my site. I got the metatag from google, but no matter where I put it in my html it doesn’t seem to work. It just shows up like text on the actual page. I put in <head> tags around it but they disappear when saving. I also tried a couple of the alternative methods for veryfying with google – no luck getting anything to work. It always just says unable to verify.

  • Hi there,

Are you pasting the HTML meta tag in the field named Google on your site’s Traffic page?
