Google analytics and Jetpack

I want to add google analytics to my site but I cannot add the measurement ID (to My Site – Tools – Marketing – Traffic), it takes me to the jetpack checkout. I therefore removed the jetpack plugin and then I got alerts that my theme needs jetpack plugin so I reinstated the free version. I’m going round in circles! Help. Thank you.

Hey there, you’re actually in the forums for WordPress.com sites.
I’d recommend adding Jetpack back in for the features you already use. If you want to use its paid features, too, like backups and security scans as well as WordPress.com tools like this SEO tool, you can go ahead and buy those accordingly.
If you just want to add Google Analytics, though, there are several plugins out there that can help:
