  How does mapping the domain from google or transferring the domain from google affect the ability to use Gmail?

  Are you referring to using G Suite through WordPress.com?

  If so, email connected to the domain should continue to work providing the MX records in place. I also recommend including a spf TXT record as this helps to reduce the likelihood of emails sent from the domain being marked as spam.
