Google fails to verify domain…3x

  Can’t figure out where the error is when Google tries to verify my domain on WP…spoke with their support and they believe the error is with WP, as there is no TXT record for Google. Please advise asap. Cheers, A

  Hi there,

  I’d be happy to help you with this process. Are you trying to verify your domain so you can set up Google Apps (for email) or for a different Google service like Google’s Webmaster Tools? The process for each is a bit different, so I want to make sure we’re working on the right thing on this end before we proceed. :)

  Hi Rachel, is there a way we can troubleshoot this more quickly? I’m anxious for our business to using our domain email addresses.
  Maybe set-up a time where we’ll both be online? Or is there another option to this.
  Please advise.

  PS: to give you an update…I’ve just tried through Google to verify my domain with the same failed message and have received over 8 emails from WordPress to verify my address – which I have numerous times and even see the page where it confirms verification.

  Sorry for the delay responding — I’m located in Europe, so your reply came in during the evening here. If you’d prefer, I can ask one of our Happiness Engineers in North America to help out with this so they are closer to your time zone. Just let me know. :)

  I checked the TXT record you entered under Store > My Domains > Edit DNS in your dashboard. There were a couple extra characters there, so I deleted those — the TXT is now in the right format for verifying your domain for Google Apps. You can find our guide for that here: Add Email through Google Apps

  Can you go to your Google dashboard and try verifying your domain again? If it doesn’t work, please let me know.

  I checked in our system, and it looks like your email address is confirmed both for your WordPress.com account and your domain. If you continue to get emails about this, please let me know.
