Google search returns (obviously) the wrong blog.
-
Hi, I have a bit of a problem.
Until recently I have had two blogs attached to my WordPress account; one that was only something of a test blog (cephalophore.wordpress.com) and a proper blog with my name blatantly attached to it (rjcreaney.wordpress.com). I found, however, that when making a Google search with my name (R. J. Creaney) the blog that showed up was the test one and not, strangely enough, the one that actually had my name (and the search terms) attached to it. Even doing a search for ‘rjcreaney.wordpress.com’ brings up only the cephalophore.wordpress.com blog. And I don’t think that I had my name _anywhere_ on the test blog.
I tried to set rjcreaney.wordpress.com as my ‘primary’ blog, and I also went ahead and deleted cephalophore.wordpress.com altogether, but neither measure fixed the problem – searching for ‘R. J. Creaney’ on Google still brings up the (now deleted) test blog.
Is this an issue with Google, or with WordPress? How could I go about fixing it? Will Google eventually ‘catch up’ and realize that rjcreaney.wordpress.com is the one that it needs to bring up with those search terms?Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We have zero control over which data Google chooses to index and display. All search engine issues are yours to work out with them. Once anything has been indexed it’s in Google’s cache and they only clear their caches every 3 – 6 months.

Your “old” site had your name on the front page – Google picked that up – if you had not deleted your old site you could have verified ownership with Google then set it to Private making all the crawls by Google a 404 Page not found then deleted the page with Google Webmaster tools – you best bet now it to make a few new Posts on your new site to make Google (and the other search engines) associate the new blog with your name.

It’s a team effort over here – I also left a comment on his site and referenced the above note – told him to blog more – also picked up after one of the Staff in the other forum when a person had their blog set to require comments to be logged in –

Thanks for the advice, Auxclass. I was going to hold off on actually blogging until I had some more fiction up, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to make some posts at this early stage.

Every time you make a Post your site calls up Google and the other search engines and says “new material stop on by” – the more material you have the more important the search engines think you are – one of my sites takes a few hours for Google to stop by – the site linked to my name the time is measured in minutes.
