Google searching

  I understand SEO is part of the paid service within WordPress but my site doesn’t appear in a Google search. I’ve checked the settings and site visibility is set to ‘Allow search engines to index this site’ and under settings > privacy, the site is set to ‘public’.
  When I’ve checked the referrers section under statistics, it shows a few search engines but not Google.
  Is there any reason my site is not showing up on Google, even when I type in ‘The Canterbury Foodie’ and ‘The Canterbury Foodie WordPress’?
  Any help would be most appreciated. I’m a not for profit site so I can’t currently afford to upgrade to business but I’d like people to be able to read and hopefully enjoy my articles.

  It can take up to 8 weeks or more before search engines crawl a site, https://wordpress.com/support/seo/.
  You must understand almost everyone starts a site on the internet. But setting up a site doesn’t mean ‘everyone’ can find your site. To build up a higher ranking in search engines, it’s important high ranked sites link to your site.

  Thanks, I’ve now managed to find Google Search Console which might help. It’s been up since January, hence the confusion that it still wasn’t found using the boldest of words.
  I’ll try and get me on some higher profile sites and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again.
